Marjorie Amos-Frazier (1926-2010) was a Civil Rights activist and politician in Charleston, South Carolina. She was the first woman elected to serve on the Charleston County Council in 1974. James Raymond Logan (1874-1958) was the first native Charlestonian to receive a civil service appointment for work at the Charleston Navy Yard, and was the first African American appointee.
